The purpose of the Spartanburg County Dart Organization is to promote the game of darts in Spartanburg County.

We provide both league and tournament play for both the casual and advanced player. With the ability to play in one of our team leagues, weekly or yearly tournaments, and qualifiers to possibly play at the national level. We strive to make darts enjoyable for every level of player.

We also have the SCDO Youth League, that is the official youth league of the SCDO. The SCDOYL was started by the SCDO to create a league centered on youth darts. The goal of the SCDOYL to create a safe smoke and alcohol free dart league for youth ages 7 to 17.  Check out the SCDO Youth League Facebook page for more information.

History of the Spartanburg County Dart Organization

The SCDO was conceived in November 2013 by a small group local dart enthusiasts that were tired of not having a quality league option in Spartanburg. All of the founding members have been involved in darts for many years and have been members of leagues all over the Southeast. Many of them have served in various positions on dart league boards, tournament management, and dart development committees.

With this experience and knowledge the SCDO's first league season was started in February 2014. With the first League Champions being crowned in May 2014. The League Champions each season are awarded the Jeffrey A Baker Trophy, named after one of the founding members, the Baker Cup is displayed at the sponsor location of the winning team until the next champion is crowned. The first league champions were the Dart Vaders who beat the Blind Flying Squirrels in the Championship Match.  This first season seen six teams compete, playing at four different locations.

The second season saw the league expand to seven teams playing in two divisions, with the addition of two new locations and many new faces. One of those new teams, the Treblemakers, captured the Baker Cup by defeating the Bullwinkles for the Championship. This season also saw the standard of play improve, with many players improving at the end of the season.

With the start of 2015, the SCDO board seen a need for a youth dart league in the Upstate of South Carolina. Thus the Southern Youth Dart League was formed. With the help of the first SCDO Youth Director Chris McKeehan and the late Bob Archbold, who was then the ADO National Youth Manager, the SYDL foundation was laid. The goal of the SYDL is to create a safe smoke and alcohol free location for youth darts. Since its inception the SYDL has been open to all youth ages 7 to 17.

In August 2015, we lost a great asset to the SCDO in Bob "Arch" Archbold. Arch was a strong supporter of the SCDO and a member of the Fall 2014 Baker Cup Champion "The Treblemakers". With his help we also was able to start the SYDL, the only youth dart league in South Carolina. After his death we had the first "Darts For Arch" tournament, this first event was held with the goal of helping his family get through the difficult time. From the feedback at this event the annual "Darts For Arch" tournament was launched. The annual event now raises money to help send youth to the ADO National Youth Championship. We were honored to have the 2016 event's Youth 501 ranked by the World Darts Federation, and all events sanctioned by the ADO.

We continue to welcome more players and are constantly talking with potential locations. If you would like more information about the SCDO please email spartanburgdarts@mail.com or fill out the contact form located on this website.
